GE to develop lights that detect gun shots

GE Lighting has teamed up with a specialist firm to bring gunshot detection to light fixtures. The arrangement will add gunshot detection sensors and software to GE’s intelligent LED streetlights.

GE Lighting disappears in radical restructure

Looks like a streetlight, acts like a computer: GE LED streetlights in San Diego, where intelligent, connected lighting could monitor things like traffic and crime. The new 'Current' services group embraces CEO Jeff Immelt's industrial internet strategy, treating LEDs as computers that route information. The conventional lighting group -no longer called GE Lighting- keeps the old stuff. It's possibly for sale.

Eaton Acquires Ephesus Lighting

ACUITY BRANDS TO ACQUIRE JUNO LIGHTING GROUP

 

 
ATLANTA, October 29, 2015 - Acuity Brands, Inc. (NYSE: AYI) (“Company”) today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire all of the equity interests of Juno Lighting LLC (“Juno Lighting Group”), a leading provider of downlighting and track lighting fixtures for both residential and commercial applications. Juno Lighting Group, a unit of Schneider Electric, serves customers throughout North America, including electrical distributors, lighting showrooms, homecenters, contractors, architects, engineers, lighting designers and commercial facilities. Juno Lighting Group operates manufacturing facilities in Des Plaines, Illinois, and Fishers, Indiana, and generates current annual revenues of approximately $250 million.

Toshiba Kisses Goodbye to White LED Business

Toshiba confirmed in a company statement on Wednesday that it will be withdrawing from white LED production by late March 2016, according to reports from Nikkei and other Japanese media.
